Privacy Notice: birth details, books, accounts and the app

Last updated: 2026-09-23 This notice is part of our Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains how our store, which runs on Shopify, handles the information every online shop collects: your contact details, payments, orders and device information. This notice adds the things that are specific to Starlyzed: the birth details you give us to make personalized products, the books and audio we make from them, your Starlyzed account, and the Starlyzed app. If the two documents ever disagree about these topics, this notice is the more specific one.

Birth details

Some of our products are made just for you from your birth chart. To make them we ask for your **name, birth date, birth time and birth place**. We use these details for one purpose: to compute your chart and make the product you ordered. We do not sell, rent or share them, and we do not use them for advertising or profiling. How your book is made. Our astrology engine computes your chart from your birth details. The writing is then generated by an AI language model from that chart, on servers run by our AI provider, and checked by our automated quality gates. The chart data sent to the model is used only to write your book. What we keep after your order. Once your product is made and delivered, we **delete the birth details you gave us** for that order — birth date, time, place and their coordinates — from our systems. We keep a minimal order record (your name, order number, and that it was delivered). Two things are different from before, and we say them plainly:

  • We now keep your finished book. Your book (and its audio, if you have one) is an edition: a file made once from your chart that never changes. We keep it, privately, for as long as you are entitled to it — see *Your Library* below — so you can download or listen to it again. Be aware that the book itself, like any keepsake, shows your name, birth date, birth time and city on its title page, so keeping the book means those details remain inside that one private file. We use the file for nothing except showing it to you, and deleting the edition deletes it.
  • Garment orders are different. For chart garments, the birth details stay on your Shopify order (we need them for reprints and disputes) and are never emailed or published. Nothing about garments changes.

If you have a Starlyzed account, you can choose to save your birth details. This is a separate, optional choice. Saved details are stored encrypted, are used only to personalize what you see (your chart, your daily sky), and you can turn the choice off or delete the saved details at any time in the app or by writing to us. Turning it off does not delete a book you already own. We record when you gave and withdrew this choice, so we can show you what you agreed to. Age. Our readings are written for adults. If a birth date shows the reading would be for a child, we guide you to the age-appropriate product instead.

Photos ("My Chart, My Style")

If you buy a product that uses your photos, the separate photo section on that product page applies: we strip location data on upload, store photos privately and encrypted, never use them to train anything, and delete them once your order is complete or when you ask.

Your Library and what you own

When you buy a digital edition — a book, an audio edition, or a gift someone claims — we record an entitlement: which edition belongs to which person. That record is what shows your purchases in your Library on the web and in the app. It holds your order number, the product, when and how you got it (purchase, gift, or a later way we add), and whether it is still valid.

  • How long. We keep the entitlement and its edition for as long as the entitlement is valid. A refund or a cancelled order ends the entitlement, and the edition stops being available to you.
  • Where. Editions are stored privately. When you open one we create a short-lived private link for you; there is no public link to your book.
  • Deletion on request. You can ask us to delete an edition at any time. Deleting it is permanent; because we no longer hold your birth details, we cannot re-create it without you giving them again.
  • Gifts. If someone gifts you a book, the edition belongs to you once you claim it. The buyer sees that it was claimed, not the book.
  • Pay-what-you-can. If a product offers pay-what-you-can pricing, what you own is the same whatever you paid.

Your Starlyzed account

You can use our store as a guest. A Starlyzed account is needed for the app and for the Library. How you sign in. You can sign in with Apple, with Google, or with a one-time code we email you. We store the identifier the provider gives us for you and your email address (with Sign in with Apple you may choose to share a relay address instead of your real one; we then use the relay address). We do not receive your Apple or Google password. We also keep the sessions and devices signed in to your account so you can see and sign them out. Linking to your store orders. If the email on your Starlyzed account has been verified and matches the email on your Shopify orders, we link them so the books you bought appear in your Library. We do not link accounts on an unverified email. Membership. If you hold a Starlyzed membership, we record that status and show it in the store so member benefits apply at checkout. The store never sends membership information back the other way. <a id="delete"></a>Deleting your account. You can delete your account in the app (You → Account → Delete account) or by emailing hello@starlyzed.com from the address on your account; we confirm by email when it is done. *(Google Play requires a web page where deletion can be requested — this paragraph, at `/pages/privacy-notice#delete`, is that page.)* Deleting your account deletes your saved birth details, your sign-in identities and sessions, your notification preferences, and your Library — including editions you bought, which cannot be recovered. We tell you this and ask you to confirm before it happens. If you only want to delete your birth details, you can do that separately and keep your Library. Order and payment records stay in Shopify as the Privacy Policy describes; they are needed for tax and accounting.

The Starlyzed app

The app is where you read and listen to what you own and see your sky. It does not sell books or memberships; purchases happen on starlyzed.com. Notifications. If you allow notifications, we store a device token so we can tell you when an edition is ready and when your weekly audio is ready. You can turn each topic off in the app or turn notifications off in your phone's settings; we then stop sending them. Links. Links to starlyzed.com may open directly in the app if it is installed. This uses a standard file we publish for Apple and Google; it does not send us any information. What the app stores on your phone. Your session, the editions you have downloaded, and your preferences. Signing out removes the session; deleting the app removes everything.

Analytics

We use a product analytics service, PostHog, to understand how the store and the app are used and to find errors. We send it the names of the things that happen (for example "edition opened") and technical details such as app version and device type. We do not send it your birth details, your chart, your name or your email address, and we do not use it to advertise to you across other companies' apps or sites. Your Privacy Policy choices about cookies and targeted advertising on the store continue to apply.

Who processes this information for us

Like every online business, we use service providers who process information only on our instructions: Shopify (the store and payments), our hosting and database providers, our private file storage, our email delivery provider, our AI model provider (to write your book from your chart), Apple and Google (sign-in), our notification service, and PostHog (analytics). Print partners receive what is needed to make and ship a physical item: your name, address and the print file — never your birth details for a book. Each provider is bound by contract to protect the information.

Your choices and rights

Everything in the Privacy Policy's Your Rights and Choices applies here. In addition you can, at any time: turn saved birth details on or off; delete your birth details; delete an edition; change notification topics; sign out devices; or delete your account. Write to hello@starlyzed.com for anything you cannot do yourself. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder.

Changes

When our practices change, we update this notice and the date at the top, and we tell you in the app or by email when the change matters to you. ---
